Questions, answered straight.
No hype, no vague marketing-speak. Here's where things actually stand.
What is MODTOES, exactly?
MODTOES is a sandal with a threaded stainless steel post embedded in the sole. Interchangeable modules twist onto that post and lock flush or deployed, letting one sandal adjust to how your foot actually loads weight — instead of a single fixed shape.
Is MODTOES a medical device?
No. MODTOES is footwear. It isn't FDA-cleared and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, or correct any medical condition. If you have a foot condition, please talk to a podiatrist or physician before making footwear decisions based on it.
What are the modules made of?
The embedded post is medical-grade stainless steel, fully sleeved in silicone so no metal touches skin. Module bodies are molded TPU. Materials are chosen for durability and skin contact safety; full material specs will be published before the product ships.
Is the mechanism actually patented?
It's patent-pending. A non-provisional utility application has been filed with the USPTO covering the indexed forefoot grid and interchangeable threaded module system. Patent-pending means an application is under review — it isn't a guarantee of an issued patent.
When can I buy a pair?
We're pre-launch and currently in prototype trials. There's no fixed ship date yet, and we're not going to invent one to create urgency. The reserve list exists so we can email you the moment a real production run is ready.
Does reserving my spot cost anything?
No. Reserving a spot is just an email address on a list — no payment, no deposit, no obligation.
Will early reservers get a discount or priority?
Founding-supporter details (if any) will be shared directly with the list before public launch. We haven't finalized pricing or allocation yet.
How does sizing work with modules?
Modules come in a sized set so you can swap for fit rather than being locked into one stock shape. Sizing charts and a fit guide will be published ahead of the first production run.
Can I use MODTOES for water, hiking, or everyday wear?
The design intent covers everyday and light outdoor use. Specific use-case guidance (water exposure, terrain, etc.) will be finalized and published alongside the production release.
What's your shipping and returns policy?
We're not fulfilling orders yet, so there's nothing to ship or return today. See our Shipping page for what to expect once sales open.
How do I get in touch?
Email us any time — see the Contact page for details. We're a small team, so expect a personal reply, not a canned one.
